  • Overview

    The Assistant Technical Designer Temp is responsible for assisting in the development of garments of a high level of quality and fit within the established production calendar for DMAT. This temporary opportunity is available immediately at our home office in Moorestown, NJ.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain and update tech pack templates and block patterns library with the technical design manager
    • Support the technical design team with initial tech packs. Complete design specifications package, including: flat sketch with measurements, construction details, measurement specifications with appropriate tolerances and any predefined performance standards.
    • Spec and analyze garments to determine compliance of spec, construction and fit intent.
    • Prepare garments and paperwork for fittings.
    • Maintain weekly garment log with daily updates of all garments received and fitted.
    • Attend fit sessions on live fit models.
    • Effectively communicate to vendors all required changes to fit and production samples. This includes drafting all fit comments, providing visual instruction via photos, creating and/or adjusting patterns for vendor instruction, updating technical sketches, and advising on specs.
    • Assist QA department in evaluating current production issues.

    Qualifications

    • 1-2 years of experience preferred but not mandatory
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design or related field
    • Effective time management skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Position requires experience in pattern correction skills, along with the ability to adjust patterns and effectively reflect fit changes to vendors
    • Knowledge of PLM, PDM, Illustrator, or Kaledo preferred, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Photoshop. 
    • Technical knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, sewing, technical drawing, measuring and fitting.
