  • Overview

    The Assistant Buyer works to drive the overall sales performance of their respective classes through the entire Product Life Cycle process.  They are responsible for managing the assortment sheet, samples, and purchase order process in order to effectively achieve sales and profit plans.  The Assistant Buyer must react quickly to changes within the business and be vocal in their product opinion in order to service the Mom-to-be.


    Product Management & Organizational Support:

    • Maintain accurate assortment/buy sheets by class
    • Maintain excel reports for buyer as needed that analyze and drive profit
    • Direct Merch Ops team on which Purchase Orders to enter at the right time, providing all the accurate information to submit to the vendor
    • Act as a key liaison between Buyer, Design, Product Development, and Technical Design teams to execute overall mix of trend-right, saleable fashion for our Mom 2 Be
    • Shop competition and our own stores on regular basis for current fashion trends and price points. Responsible for competitive shopping analysis reports.
    • Provide opinions within Divisional style-out to curate total merchandising mix to drive a set profit plan; Offers regular feedback in all product related meetings

    Sample Management:

    • Manage samples for Business Reviews, Floorsets, Web & Marketing Shoots
    • Obtains samples from vendors for all product meetings and manage the safe return of all samples
    • Regularly clear out old samples and maintain tidy sample area
    • Take photos of samples when needed and maintain photo logs or libraries of samples

    Communication & People Management:

    • Speak clearly in all meetings
    • Manage clear communication in all written documents, including emails
    • Build collaborative relationships with cross-functional team members including planning, allocation, production, design, web, DC etc.
    • Interface professionally and positively, and work effectively in group settings



    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Eye for fashion and trend with a willingness to learn about Mom 2 Be
    • Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills
    • The ability to prioritize tasks in order to balance the immediate and long term needs of the business with high sense of urgency
    • Detail oriented with excellent follow through skills
    • Experience with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new computer systems quickly and retain the information
