  • Overview

    The Sr. Vice President of Planning & Allocation is responsible for leading and directing the development, execution, and communication of Merchandising Plans to achieve sales, margin, and inventory turn goals. Guide all activities supporting the top down/bottom up planning process across 3 distinct merchandising divisions and five discreet channels. This position is highly collaborative with all cross-functional partners and is responsible for bridging communication and coordination between buying, production, warehouse distribution, stores, and marketing, and is highly involved in strategic development of merchandising systems and training. Key business leader and thought partner.

    Responsibilities

    • Establish pre-season Quarterly guidelines by division, working with the teams to Identify classifications as grow/maintain/decline and ensure the financial blueprint supports these distinctions.
    • Oversee and guide all aspects of the OTB process.
    • Work with merchants to improve and optimize inventory productivity; establish clear turn objectives by division and sign off on all classification and channel plans.
    • Collaborate with merchants on appropriate depth and breathe of styles and other attributes
    • Focus the team’s efforts on developing entrance and exit strategies that productively transition the seasons by climate group
    • Active engagement in business analysis and hindsight, participate in the development of strategies and tactics that will maximize opportunities and mitigate risks. Move fast and decisively.
    • Maintain the Planning PLC (product lifecycle calendar) that provides specific timing of all deliverables related to Planning’s contribution to each Quarterly Buy Period
    • Strong partnership with Allocation on store inventory strategies, seasonal conversions, channel management, as well as partner on system enhancements and tool development
    • Partner with brand merchant management to prioritize work and anticipate issues
    • Hire, train, mentor and develop team; provide positive leadership and guidance

    Qualifications

    • 5-10 years of previous senior level planning leadership
    • Specialty apparel retailer preferred
    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Strong financial acumen with excellent analytical skills
    • Effective communicator adept at synthesizing data and complicated concepts into easily understood and actionable language
    • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
    • Active and effective prioritization of the team’s workload and ability to proactively manage deliverables
    • Forward thinker who can toggle between creating strategy and driving the execution
    • Excellent communication skills, team oriented, strong positive leadership
