    Assistant Designers assist with all aspects of garment design from color, print, and pattern concept to finished product. Assistant Designers conduct market research, assist with concept boards, design, and sketch using Adobe Illustrator. Our collaborative culture provides Assistant Designers the opportunity to participate in board reviews, fit sessions, and concept meetings with executives to advance expertise and career growth.  Our design team demonstrates a commitment to delivering on trend fashion to drive sales and increase profits while exceeding the expectations of our customers. 


    This Assistant Designer for our A Pea in the Pod brand will be responsible for the following categories: jackets, wovens, shirts, pants, shorts & denim.


    • Complete detailed sourcing packages for overseas vendors inclusive of  fabric information, trim and details along with sketches and photos
    • Assist designer in all facets of creating clothing from original sketch to final garments
    • Attend internal cross-functional meetings (Merchant, PD, Tech, Fabric teams) to gain knowledge of product cost, sourcing and delivery needs for the brand
    • Assist and participate in conceptual development of product categories, ensuring products reflect current trends and business strategy
    • Assist design team in building trend concept boards and making mock garments seasonally
    • Do extensive research to identify trends and inspiration for new product development; shop the competition online & in store
    • Hand/ Illustrator sketch designs for selected categories
    • Assist designer and CAD team in creating original prints, embroidery, and pattern designs
    • Assist in fittings with technical team to ensure proper fit and construction of styles


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design
    • General knowledge of fabrics and construction of garments
    • Working knowledge of product development programs, Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to collaborate as a team in a fast paced and multi-task environment
