  • Overview

    The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, installation and fabrication of the plant environment and facilities. Candidate must have five to ten years of maintenance experience of industrial equipment, with the ability to operate power tools, including 1) mechanical equipment, 2) electrical hydraulic, 3) pneumatic circuits and controls, 4) PLC trouble-shooting (Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi and/or Siemens and 5) plumbing. Experience with non-automated and automated conveyors, sortation equipment and minor lift truck repairs is beneficial.  Candidate must be willing to work weekend shift or second shift.

    Responsibilities

    • Able to assess equipment malfunction (including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing, HVAC and electrical) through good analytical, problem solve and trouble shooting skills.
    • Develop concepts for machine improvement, machine guarding, fixtures, etc. Also, fabricate and install industrial machine parts.
    • Perform industrial electrical repair and installation of control circuits, E-stops controls, electrical installation of 24v and 120v wiring and controls.  (Previous experience or certification recommended)
    • Able to read and understand mechanical drawings, electrical wiring schematics and layout drawings.
    • Work co-operatively with other maintenance mechanics, direct supervisor, director of engineering, operations managers and employees to keep equipment running for a 7 day operation.
    • Maintain and improve maintenance work shop area, parts inventory, PM systems and general facility maintenance.
    • Order supplies and parts as needed under direction of direct supervisor
    • Understand and maintain safety program and OSHA requirements.
    • Able to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions independently.
    • Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.

    Qualifications

    • High school or GED diploma, driver’s license, and the ability to manage heavy lifting
    • 5-10 years of maintenance experience
    • Machine troubleshooting and process troubleshooting experience
    • Experience with automated material handling equipment
    • Computer literate in Microsoft Office suite
    • Provide his or her own hand tools
    • Customer service skills
    • Ability to respond quickly and work independently
