Overview

The Senior Inventory Accountant is responsible for all aspects of the Company’s inventory accounting, including inventory reserve analysis, cost variance analysis, compliance with royalty agreements, completion of month end close activities, inventory shrink reporting, approval of wire payments and SOX internal control compliance. The individual in this role will work closely with Merchandise, Store Operations, and Distribution teams to assist them in meeting their needs and goals of Destination Maternity.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in month-end accounting close process
  • Reconcile of Perpetual Inventory to the General Ledger
  • Posting of Company Cost of Goods Sold
  • Monthly calculation of inventory overhead
  • Calculate quarterly Excess and Obsolete Inventory Reserve
  • Ensure Sarbanes Oxley compliance
  • Warehouse and store shrink reporting and analysis        
  • Quarterly, yearly, and periodic forecasting of company inventory and overhead
  • Account analysis and reconcile cost/inventory
  • Monitor chargeback process as it relates to inventory
  • Assist with annual off-site inventory of raw material and trim.
  • Maintain multiple MS Access databases and MS Excel schedules
  • Cross train with team members to be able to perform their duties as needed
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of accounting experience
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
  • Intermediate computer skills Outlook, Excel, Word, Access
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to travel internationally 1-2 weeks per year
